46th international trade fair
for minerals, fossils, precious stones and jewellery
The Munich Mineral Show is Europe's largest mineral trade show and international meeting point for collectors, dealers and exhibitors worldwide. For 46 years, the organisers have been bringing the most spectacular and valuable natural treasures in the world to Munich - from the most fascinating precious stones to the largest gold find in the Alps. A colourful treasure chamber to amaze, for shopping and collecting, which impresses around 40,000 visitors a year as an adventure and experience fair.
Special Exhibit Themes 2009
Upper Jurassic Fossil Park:
Bavarian Archaeopteryx in Munich
Unprecedented: different museum loans of the famous Archaeopteryx ("old bird") under one roof. Plus the nine best genuine dinosaur skulls from Wyoming USA. All impressively presented in a large fossil park, which authentically portrays the tropical landscape of the Upper Jurassic 150 million years ago with lakes, plants and islands and life-size dinosaur skeletons. A real primeval experience, in the heart of Munich!

India's Hidden Treasure:
Enormous Crystals and Fossilised Poetry
India, which stands for the splendid jewels of the Maharajas and the most perfect monument of love, the Taj Mahal. The India Special Exhibit gives a hint of the treasures for which the breathtaking country is famous. The centrepiece: the "Emperor of India", the most beautiful aquamarine crystal in the world – an enormous, luminescent, turquoise precious stone, almost 10 kg in weight and 32 cm in height. The large sculpture of the Hindu god Ganesha cut from a massive quartz and "talking" stones are other highlights.
